Dr. Seow Ta Wee, a distinguished professor renowned for his expertise in environmental management and solid waste management within the Department of Construction Management, Faculty of Technology Management and Business, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). With over twenty years of dedicated commitment to teaching, research, and consultancy, Dr. Seow holds a PhD in Environmental Management, attained from the National University of Malaysia.
Currently, Dr. Seow is the Head of the Centre of Sustainable Infrastructure & Environmental Management. Prior to this, he held various significant positions including Deputy Director of the International Office, Deputy Dean for Research & Development and Head of Department of Construction & Real Estate Management. His multifaceted contributions extend to chairing international conferences and enriching UTHM landscape.
Dr. Seow's scholarly pursuits transcend disciplinary boundaries, encompassing environmental studies, geography, construction sociology, and social return on investment (SROI). He was involved in research consultation at the national level such as developing the National Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Policy under the Ministry of Human Resource.
Acknowledged as an authority in his field, Dr. Seow's influence extends globally through engagements such as the ASEAN Autism Mapping and Policy Development Project and the waste-to-energy knowledge transfer initiative in ASEAN. Notably, his endeavors have garnered substantial research and consultancy funding, exceeding 4.5 million Malaysian Ringgit, with significant implications for socio-economic advancement.
Beyond academia, Dr. Seow actively engages in community development initiatives, driving Sustainable Development Goals programs, waste-to-energy awareness campaigns, and environmental advocacy efforts. His collaborative endeavors with local authorities, schools, NGOs, and higher education institutions underscore his commitment to effecting positive change at both local and international levels.
